To be vital, relevant and the driven force for academic excellence
Be able to:
Access
Our most cherished principle is freedom of access to information in all forms and for all persons. All information resources that are provided directly or indirectly by the library, regardless of technology, and methods of delivery, should be readily, equally, and equitably accessible to all library users. We treasure the library ideals of free speech and open inquiry (all upheld by our collections, our services, our policies, and our processes)
Confidentiality/Privacy
Giving protection to our user’s privacy and confidentiality is fundamental to the ethics and practice of librarianship as well as necessary for intellectual freedom
Education and Lifelong Learning
Libraries play a critical role in integrating information resources, learning technologies, and research skills across the college curriculum. We collaborate with faculty to develop and deliver a 21st-century education to a diverse community. We promote the freedom, discovery, and openness of access to information along with the application of critical thinking toward knowledge creation.
Excellence in Service and People
Provides the best service to all library users, regardless of expertise or affiliation. We strive for excellence by enhancing our knowledge, encouraging professional development, and fostering future members’ aspirations. We value our fellow employees, treat everyone with respect, and celebrate diversity. We work together as a team for the Library and College’s greater good.
Preservation
The library supports the preservation of both the physical and intellectual content of information published in all media and formats. Central to libraries and librarianship is the preservation of information resources and that is what the library affirms.
Sustainability
The library is supporting the library community by showing its commitment to assisting in the development of a sustainable library with the addition of sustainability as a core value of librarianship.
