It is a great privilege to welcome you to the WATICO Library. This library supports the vision of the COLLEGE by providing resources to enhance the academic activities of the various departments in the college in their promotion of academic excellence and research prominence of the students and staff. Also, it is part of the WATICO academic system and therefore provides access to a wide range of research tools.

As we undertake this tremendous exciting journey of experiencing and creating scholarship, the library aims to support you in learning, teaching and research by acquiring, organizing, preserving and providing access to and delivery of relevant information to satisfy your needs.

About Us

The College Library as an integral part of the College is committed to bringing people and relevant information together. To support fully the instructional, research, and services programmes of the College by providing transformative and innovative services, resources, and programmes. Provide access to relevant information through teaching, acquisition, organization, and preservation of scholarly information resources to students’ teachers, staff, and the greater WATICO community. Through the available resources, the library aims at creating an enabling environment for all categories of staff (academic, administrative, and technical) as well as students to be productive and confident in their use of available information resources.

The College Library is committed to integrating people and relevant information, supporting the College’s programs, and providing innovative resources to meet WATICO community needs.

Giving protection to our user’s privacy and confidentiality is fundamental to the ethics and practice of librarianship as well as necessary for intellectual freedom

Libraries play a critical role in integrating information resources, learning technologies, and research skills across the college curriculum. We collaborate with faculty to develop and deliver a 21st-century education to a diverse community. Preservation

The library supports the preservation of both the physical and intellectual content of information published in all media and formats. Central to libraries and librarianship is the preservation of information resources and that is what the library affirms.

The library is supporting the library community by showing its commitment to assisting in the development of a sustainable library with the addition of sustainability as a core value of librarianship. This consists of practices that are environmentally sound, economically feasible, and socially equitable.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATION AND INFORMATION AT THE LIBRARY

  • Within the precincts of the library, silence is to be observed at all times. Any other behaviour that is likely to disturb or inconvenience other readers should be avoided
  • Smoking is forbidden in all parts of the library
  • Food or drink including toffees, fruits, candies, etc. is not allowed in any part of the library
  • Bags, briefcases, hats, gowns, tape recorders, raincoats, scanners, umbrellas, cameras, , and other carriers such as large handbags must be deposited with the library staff at the entrance and a tag collected.
  • It must be noted that such items are deposited at the owners’ own risk and the Library disclaims responsibility for any loss of or damage to any items so deposited.
  • Offensive weapons including firearms are not allowed into the library
  • Pets are not allowed in any part of the library
  • The use of any naked light, including candles, is not allowed in the library
  • Reserving of seats by or for any reader is prohibited or not Any seat so reserved shall be cleared by the library staff for use by others.
  • Within 72 hours any book recalled shall be returned or after four days fines will be imposed
  • Inspection will be done by library staff on any item being taken out of the library
  • All users must enter through the entrance door and leave the library through the exit door
  • Entering the repository is prohibited by users
  • All borrowed materials are to be returned three days before the end of each semester
  • Orderly conduct must be maintained at all times in all parts of the library
  • Books consulted should not be returned to the shelves. They should be left. on the tables. Much trouble and delay are caused by re-shelving books that have been placed incorrectly on the shelves.
  • Marking, mutilation, and misappropriation of library materials is a serious offense am severe disciplinary action will be taking against offenders.
  • All library materials and equipment must be treated with care. Any damage occurring must be reported at The librarian may require any reader to pay for the cost of repair of any damaged property.
  • No book may be removed from the library unless a loan form has been duly completed and the book properly charged out at the Circulation Desk.

OFFENCES AND SANCTIONS

FAILURE TO RETURN BOOKS ON THE DUE DATE
  1. Offenders shall be liable to pay a fine of twenty (GH₵20) a day up to seven Thereafter fines of thirty Ghana Cedis (GH₵30) a day plus loss of borrowing right will be imposed until the books are returned.
  2. Final-year students who fail to return all library books three days before the second-semester final examination will be debarred from taking the examination

A member who reports the misplacement of a borrowed book will be given up to Fourteen (14) days to look for it. During that period, he or she shall be liable to pay a fine of twenty Ghana Cedis (GH₵20) a day for the first seven days.

Offender will pay twice the current price of the book including shipping and handling charges, plus a processing charge of GH₵100.00.

A user who tears pages, sections, and illustrations from library materials shall be dismissed from the college.

  1. A user who commits this offense will pay the current price of the book in Ghana Cedis and will lose borrowing rights for one semester.

  2. In the case of a Senior Member who commits such offense and any of the above-mentioned offenses, a report shall be made to the Principal for appropriate sanctions to be instituted against him/her.

REGISTRATION OF USERS

All students must present   their   identity   cards   and   passport   size   photograph   before they are registered. Registration is valid for the duration of a registered course. A user will be issued with a Borrower’s Card which must be shown at the Issue Desk whenever material (book) is being borrowed from the library.

The following are the numbers of materials (books) readers are entitled to borrow from the library:

  • No book is to be written in, soiled, torn, cut, or damaged in any
  • Any defect in or damage to a book before borrowing should be reported to the library
  • Users must not trace any picture or figure from any book/material.
  • Readers and borrowers will be held responsible for any damage to a book in their care and will be required to pay the appropriate cost for such damaged books.
  • Borrowers should report at once the loss of any book, and if it is not found, the borrower shall pay for the lost book.
